"praises Hilali for his skilled public relations"

the link to that sentiment is either not working or is pointing to an article that makes a different point (something that is apparent after a partial reading).

Sorry I meant 'skilled media relations' I'll change.

Yes, JWH might be reading. So might Sir Adrian and Lady Cadbury.

Why say this is left-wing stuff? Just watch parliament and you'll see idiotic name calling from the idiots on both sides of parliament that run the country, and it doesn't seem restricted to one group or another, and most of it isn't even funny like Keating-style insults. I'm also not sure whats worse, saying Australians are doing a bad job somewhere because they don't get killed, or sending them somewhere to get killed on completely dishonest reasons (or keeping them there for stupid honest reasons, when WMDs turn into helping our buddies).

Also, whether you happen to like Hilali or not, he is skilled at media managment -- He went from no-one to being on the news everyday. He reminds me of Hanson in this respect except the groups that get smeared with him are different (cf. dumb racist Queensland hicks)

You forget that it was George Brandis, a Liberal MP, who was first accused of calling Howard "a lying rodent". He denied this, but admitted to calling him "the rodent". This second name was apparently used widely amongst Liberal MPs.

Mark, I certainly didn't forget it - I am reminded of this every time I raise this issue. I don't care who used the term - it is inappropriate and unreasonable. The Nazis referred to Jews as 'rodents'. What I always ask people who use this term is whether JWH would use the same language in relation to anyone - he wouldn't.

Conrad, I think Hilali is a blundering idiot harming Islam in Australia and himself.

Not while he remains Mufti of Australia he's not harming Islam, but just telling it like it is on behalf of Australian Muslims apparently.

Just like Hanson for a good chunk of white Australia I guess. Enjoy the 2% tax.

My point is that you use this to selctively criticise "left-wing ninnies" when it is people on both right and left who are using this term.

Let me make myself clear then Mark I dislike the term whether it is used by Jeff Kennett, George Brandis or some peanut writing a blog post. At Troppoo a month ago I made the same point.
